Parents have so many concerns and questions. Please never hesitate to ask Zara Davies directly ...

All concerns regarding your child's developmental needs. Any other special needs or illnesses they may have, whether infectious or non-infectious, please do inform Zara Davies directly either by calling or sending an sms for immediate matters, or by emailing questions using our contact from on this site.

As we believe child development is more than just education, parents are encouraged to share their thoughts on their child's behaviour at home, so that we may help to co-parent your child and facilitate a long term parent-child loving relationship while they are with us.

Remember always, it's never any trouble for us, as we aim to provide personal care for every child entrusted to us.

My child is 3 years old and not talking.

We have been hearing this with increasing frequency over the years. If your child is not talking by 2 then this is a warning sign that things are not as they should be. Please come in for a free evaluation.

My child is still in nappies at 2 years old.

Potty training can be tricky and frustrating. There are many tips on the internet to help you achieve this however due to the environment at our center, it usually happens naturally once your child gains awarness of their biological processing which is usually followed in a few months, with attempts to control what's going on in their nappy by them.

The best advice I can offer here is to start asking them early on, about what's happening (which you can usually tell by the expression on their face) in their nappy. Some mom's use a "word" which sounds similar to the biological sounds of the particular function.

Whatever happens, don't start thinking that potty training has anything to do with intelligence and please don't compare your child with anyone elses. There are no secondary students still in nappies. Everything will happen when it's meant to !

My child still enjoys drinking a bottle of milk at 2 years old and is a difficult eater.

If your child is a difficult eater, please do not stop giving them milk in the hope they will start eating.

Milk is a great source of protein which will add value to your child's growth and development, now and in old age. Calcium is especially important for girls and cannot be under estimated in the male growth patterns.

Once they arrive at the center we provide regular meal times. Here eating is a social event and eventually even the most picky eater will join in.

If your child is a picky eater and still likes to have a bottle of milk in the morning, let us know so we can accommodate that need. You will need to send a clean bottle with the required powdered milk.

My child is stubborn and throws tantrums.

Parents tend to get tied into knots when their child plays up. Stubborness is an indication of survival sustainability and should not be seen as a parenting battle ground. With the right environment your childs ability to sustain his need is cultivated and moulded into a capacity to keep going in the face of adversity.

Tantrums however, are usually due to lack of ability to communicate or an unreasonable request. In both incidences, a calm and timely approach is all that is needed. Learn to observe your child and prempt situations which are likely to lead to an out burst. This is similar to unlearning something. Which is a form of parental guidance rarely used.

The best way through this developmental phase is by helping your child communicate their needs and by explaining to them why something cannot be so. Stay calm. This phase does not last forver.

05

My child is unable to sit still and concentrate.

Almost all the children who come through our door are unable to focus or sit still. Activities like art and craft, sensorial and practical life are designed to achieve this in a round-about way.

06

My child refuses to enter the classroom.

This is normal. We all know little ducklings take to water without a second thought, but your child is human and any human, when asked to enter a room full of strangers would feel apprehensive. That is why we encourage you to come along for the first few visits until your child is settled. How many visits? As many as it takes. When will you know if your child is OK? When he has made a friend or two.

07

My child cries when I drop him off. I feel so guilty!

We know how you feel. Even our own children cry when we drop them off to daycare or kindergarten.

Why, even we cried!

But it's just an emotional thing that actually signals that your child is understandibly attached to you and that's a good thing. We will cuddle them up and go on a short walk-about until they're settled, so don't worry. Usually they will settle within a few minutes. So help us by making it a quick goodbye and the recovery phase will be much shorter.
